How boring is my life that I basically spent all weekend at the movie theater? Or that I actually had more fun doing that than I ever do going out? Not that I don't have fun going out with my friends but....I'm perfectly happy sitting back in a dark theater and letting myself get lost in whatever's playing out onscreen. I always have been, though.
Saturday my friend Emily and I went to see Easy A. I'd already seen it, but she hadn't, so I told her I'd go with her. There've been too many comedies lately where the only funny parts are what's shown in the trailer. Luckily, that's not the case with this one. Although it reminds me a LOT of Mean Girls. But Emma Stone is amazing, and hilarious, and for the first time ever, I actually LIKED Penn Badgely. It was almost enough to make me wish I still watched Gossip Girl. Almost.
Then Saturday night I went with my mom and her boyfriend to see The Town. Again. Ever since I saw the first preview before Inception, I've been DYING to see that movie, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I think it would have been even better if Ben had cast someone else in his role, but I also think he's got a great career ahead of him as a director. And the rest of the cast was PHENOMENAL. Especially Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner. Even Blake Lively was absolutely perfect as Jem (Jeremy Renner)'s cracked out sister.
Then yesterday Emily (again) and I went to see Devil. Now, I know how most people see M. Night Shyamalan, but I feel no shame in admitting that (with the exception of Unbreakable) I actually really love his movies. Yes, I know that The Village, Lady in the Water, and The Happening weren't GOOD, but I still liked them. So I was actually looking forward to this one, even if I wasn't expecting much. So I was surprised to see that it was actually really good. It gets a little preachy in parts (but so did Signs, and people still love that one!), but it's a really good, really tense little movie. And I love any film that can freak me out without tossing nudity and/or buckets of gore in there. Why do directors think that's the only way to make their movies scary?
Devil, literally, had me on the edge of my seat for the last 20 minutes. And, alright, covering my eyes. What? I'm kind of a wuss apparently. Honestly though, I think it's a return to form for M Night, and his best movie since Signs. Again, I don't count Unbreakable in there. XD.
Also! Devil gave me a new crush!
Somebody tell me he doesn't look like Tom Hardy, because I seriously think they could be brothers.
My dad and I were actually arguing about it the other day. XD He thinks they look nothing alike. Come on! I can't be the only one who sees it!
And now, more Logan Marshall-Green, just because he's yummy.( Follow the cut for the pretty!Collapse )
